University of Houston Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts School of Theater & Dance (SoTD) premieres EDW Reinvented Solos, its first online video compilation featuring material by professional choreographers, reimagined as solos by the pre-professional company, the UH Dance Ensemble, and guest artists.
Due to the unusual circumstances, the annual spring dance concert, Ensemble Dance Works (EDW), has been redefined from its live performance to a series of dance for film solos. Using dance phrases originally intended for the live concert, the UH Dance Ensemble premiere solos filmed in unusual locations, to be seen on Sunday, April 26, 2020, in a Facebook Watch Party at 6:00 p.m.
EDW Reinvented Solos features dance phrasing choreographed by the UH dance program faculty John Beasant III, Teresa Chapman, Leslie Scates, Karen Stokes, and Becky Valls, and guest artists Joshua William DeAlba and Tracie Jackson.
EDW Reinvented Solos will be performed the UH Dance Ensemble members Daniel Davila, Jessica Figueroa, Arcelia Jaramillo, Brittany Jones, Sheena Kapila, Allen Lapoint, Allyson Loving, Mary Catherine McReynolds, Olivia Morrow, Mia Pham, Michelle Reyes, and Elyssa Vega, and guest artists Ejiwumi Afowobi, LeDondrea Harrison, Tempest McLendon, Breyonna Milton, Erica Smolik, and Jacque Villadiego.
