UH Dance Events and Performances 2019-20

UH Dance Program announces "Emerging Choreographers Showcase" at Zilkha Hall, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts - the only college concert produced and choreographed by students in a professional setting. 


University of Houston Kathrine G. McGovern School of Theatre & Dance premieres "Emerging Choreographers Showcase" Sunday, November 17, 2019 at 8:00 p.m., Zilkha Hall, Hobby Center for Performing Arts, 800 Bagby St, Houston, TX 77002, in the heart of downtown’s Theatre District. "Emerging Choreographers Showcase" is the only college concert that is fully produced and designed by current School of Theatre & Dance students in a professional setting, as they prepare for a career in the arts.  Featuring works by up-and-coming dancers, audiences get a sneak peek into the dancers of the future. October 10, 2019 The Pre-professional company, the UH Dance Ensemble, returns to UH’s Red Block Bash.4-6pm in the Fine Arts Courtyard, Entrance 16, UH Central Campus. 


October 23, 2019 UH Dance Ensemble has been invited to perform for the 50th Anniversary of UHS Public Arts Celebration’s presentation of “Mobius Houston,” at 7:00pm and 8:15pm with LIVE music organized by Dr. David Bertman (UH School of Music). November 10, 2019 UH Dance premieres its first Senior Showcase, highlighting choreography by graduating seniors, performed by UH dance students.  The Senior Showcase will be held at 8:00pm in the Wortham Theatre building, Room 208, on UH Central Campus. 


Sunday, February 23, 2020 University of Houston Kathrine G. April 24-26, 2020 University of Houston Kathrine G. McGovern School of Theatre & Dance premieres “Ensemble Dance Works” at Quintero Theatre, Zilkha Hall, Hobby Center for Performing Arts, 800Bagby St, Houston, TX 77002. “Ensemble Dance Works” is an annual spring showcase featuring original dance works by faculty and professional guest artists, performed by the pre-professional dance company, the UH Dance Ensemble.
